About me
Hi, I’m Kate Tholstrom, a graphic designer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. I recently graduated from the University of Utah with a BFA in graphic design.
My approach to design is thoughtful, research-driven, and deeply collaborative. I believe that good design begins with listening, asking the right questions, and understanding the context before making decisions. And why not make the world more beautiful while we are at it?
I value clarity, craft, and intention. Whether I’m working on a visual identity, publication, or installation, I aim to create work that communicates effectively and resonates honestly. I care about systems as much as surfaces: how things function, feel, and fit together.
I’m drawn to processes that invite iteration, curiosity, and care. I enjoy working closely with others, building trust and dialogue throughout a project. I see design as a tool not just for problem-solving, but for meaning-making, for creating experiences that are both useful and human.
When I’m not hunched over my desk designing, you can find me knitting, baking, and doing whatever I can do get away from my screens to make things with my hands.
Let’s connect. I’d love to hear what you’re working on...
